Making Wise Decisions About Your Lawn, Garden, Farm and Your Forest
It’s about knowing what is on the outside of your most valuable asset-your home and not the inside of it. Get outside and look around because it’s about the land and soil with its plants and the water that you own. It’s about that piece of God’s green earth, no matter what size or shape, that you have a deed to that allows you to be the proud owner and boss of what it does for you. But, there are issues, problems, and concerns that bewilder and befuddle us daily: “My yard is nothing but dirt or just plain weeds, or my garden is not producing vegetables like it used to, or my farm needs so much help I don’t know where to start.”
So, we try to come up with our own solutions of what to do by reading or many times observing: “I mow the lawn the same way the neighbor does, or I know how to read a fertilizer bag, or I heard it from someone at work or tv that is all I have to do to get it to grow.” Yes, we can learn from our neighbors, work colleagues, books and even tv, but we must realize that we need to find out first what exists on your land. This is done with soil testing services on the front end with a complete inventory of your land or farm’s soil, plant, and water resources, then find alternatives, and then finally decide on that alternative/solution that accomplishes what you want with your land in mind first and foremost.
So, For Land’s Sake, let’s consider what God has already given you, then I want to hear what your concerns and wishes are, and let’s see if we can make the most of what you already have and what you may need to eventually be that lawn, garden, farm, or forest that someone else is watching.
